Ultras offer prayers
on Id Jammu, March 6 At several places they were seen distributing mutton among villagers in remote areas of the valley. They had purchased lambs and not robbed them. Reports said three days ago several militants were seen making purchases, including garments and the local militants had joined their parents to celebrate Id. Some of the Kashmiri migrants living in camps in Jammu called on some ministers and legislators in Jammu to convey their greetings. Since the Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, is outside the country his residence had a few callers. However, his ministerial colleagues attracted large groups of people belonging to different faiths who greeted them on the occasion of Id. The ministers and other legislators offered prayers in Jammu’s Jama Masjid under tight security. Several mosques had been placed under security cover to allow people to offer prayers. When a senior police officer was asked if there was any incident of violence in the state he said; “It has been a day of peace because the militants remained busy in celebrating Id.” During the past week even non-Muslim shopkeepers had decorated their, shops.
