Parents day celebrated CHANDIGARH Prof K.N.Pathak, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University was the chief guest on the occasion while Mr Vikas Dev, secretary, Dev Samaj, presided over the function. Mr Vikas Dev highlighted the relevance of the day specially in the modern fast changing scenario. The Principal, Ms Satinder Dhillon, welcomed the guests. The guests included Mr D.S. Saroya, DPI (Schools), Mr Paramjit Singh, Registrar, Panjab University, Ms Satyawati, chairperson of the college, Dr Deepak Manmohan Singh, Dean, College Development Council, PU, and Mr Ashok Raj Bhandari, Controller of Examinations, PU. The function started with a Bhajan, Sharda Bhajan mat Pita kiu, Sharda Bhav karo upkar, followed by another bhajan Ma Pyari Ma sung by Sunil Bhutrani, a lecturer in the college. The students and members of the staff expressed their gratitude towards their parents through poems and speeches. The students and staff recalled all that their parents had done for them and narrated heart rending incidents from their lives for which they were thankful to their parents. The students also thanked the college for providing them the opportunity to express their gratitude to their parents. After this the students and staff members garlanded their parents to express their emotions. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pathak appreciated the college’s role in celebrating Mata Pita Santan Divas in such a unique manner. The students of the college had also organised an exhibition of craft items and teaching aids. |
90 cases settled KHARAR The adalats were presided over by Mrs Neelam Arora, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division), Mrs Harinder Sidhu, Civil Judge (Junior Division) and Mr Roshan Lal Chauhan, Civil Judge (Junior Division). A sum of Rs 23.97 lakh was distributed and majority of the cases were relating to bank loans. While giving this information, Mr Gurdeep Singh, Assistant District Attorney, Legal Services, Ropar district, said the next adalat would be held at Ropar on March 17.

Music concert CHANDIGARH Shivraj Shitole trained under Gyan Saraswati Kishori Amonkar for 12 years. He also received guidance from Kishoriji’s mother, Gyan Tapaswini Mogubai Kurdiakar. Accompanied by Kishoriji in various concerts across the country, he has to his credit many classical compositions, bhajans, thumris and ghazals. A gold medalist of Urdu literature, his writings include English, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi and Brijbhasha. He has also given music as chief music director for an international documentary, Wings to Freedom. Presently, he is conducting research on music as a medicine to assist the healing of mental and physical diseases under the spiritual guidance of his father and guru, Kriyaban Yogiraj

Karran enthrals audience ZIRAKPUR Audience gathered in the Komfort Banquet on the Zirakpur-Panchkula highway danced to the tunes of his numbers. Apart from the title song of his newly released album, the artist sang some other songs including Teri Bali Koka Jhumka Nee. While talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Karran said he gave importance to the foot taping beats in his songs beside keeping the songs for family entertainment. His new album will be in the market within next six months. Earlier an inter-corporate competition on cricket, a quiz and antaksheri were also organised in which teams from a newspaper establishment, Spice, WWICS, Connect, IDBI Bank, ZED, SI and HDFC participated. |
