What is the reason for
receiving such message? Is there any problem with the operating system
or Explorer? Kamaldeep Singh Gumbar Dr Tribune: The message "Explorer has caused an error in NAVSHELL.DLL. Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer" actually represents a problem in Norton Anti Virus 2001. However, no solution has been evolved yet for this problem and the developers of this software "Symantec Corporation is working on it. You can regularly visit the technical support site of Symantec Corporation at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/nav/ask_symantec_nav2001.html for a solution to this problem as and when it is announced. As of now I can say that this problem is not related to your operating system. As far as the question of number of RAM is considered I personally feel that single chip of 128 MB is better as it gives you enough scope for upgrading the RAM. However at the same time, if your work is very critical and you have bought the RAM with limited warranty, then having two chips of 64 MB RAM is better, because if one chip develops some problem, you can at least work temporarily with one 64 MB RAM after removing the faulty RAM. As far as the speed of the system and the performance of the Internet is concerned, both will give you the same results. Regarding, your query for motherboard, it is important to understand that the chipset is different from motherboard. Motherboard is the basic platform on which Chipset is being fixed. The design of motherboards could vary, thus there could be motherboards with different designs having different number of ports despite using the same chipset. Thus you should primarily look for the motherboard from the point of view of design and slots as all the motherboard use original Chipset, though their designs could be different. I own a Celeron-based PC with 32 MB RAM, 8.5 GB HDD, fitted with multimedia kit. My system is running on Window 98. I use Hotmail services for e-mailing. I have a serious problem with this account that whenever I want to attach any file (often a text file of MS word) to my message so that it can be sent along with the message, the system gets stuck there and the process gets terminated. So I am never able to send attachments with my Hotmail account. I have never tried this with other account, because I want to use only one account for all my correspondence.
Dr Tribune: As such there is no contradiction of word files as an attachment with Hotmail. I feel that there could be some problem in attaching the files in your Hotmail account. Following is the procedure for attaching a file in Hotmail. These are the steps involved in general and thus it may vary with your computer system or email program in case you are using it. The method of attaching the files is as follows. From the Compose window, press "Attachments". Now in the Attachments window, click the "Browse" button. Now the "File Upload" dialog box will open, browse and select the file that you want to attach and press the "Open" button. Now, the file will appear in the "Attach File" field. In the next step press the "Attach to Message" button. Here you will see that the filename and size appear in the "Message Attachments" box. Now press the "Done" button when you are finished. If you wish to attach more files then you should repeat above steps to attach as many files as you want. Fill in all the necessary details in the compose window and send the message. However, if despite using this procedure, if you encounter any problems, then you should check your attachment size and try to zip it before sending. Moreover, if you are using any specific software other than Outlook Express, then you should also try to send it directly through the Hotmail site or through Outlook Express. However, as a word of advice, it is always better to send the files in rich text format rather than the word or *.doc files as the word files take more space and are more prone to the risk of virus. I have a SIS motherboard with 64 MB RAM and 166 MHz processor, 10.2 GB hard disk, 52x CD ROM, ESS solo-1 PCI audiodrive (WDM), Motorola SM 56 speakerphone internal modem. I have Windows 98 operating system. When a song is run on the Winamp, voice arc come out properly but there is no response from the Windows media player. Please tell me what is problem. Is there a problem with my sound card or windows media player? Vishal Dr Tribune: There
could be a problem of compatibility of files, which media player is not
able to play. In the earlier version of Windows, Media player was not
compatible with all media files, however the later versions of Windows
media player have the compatibility. As a possible solution you can
download the Media player 7 from Microsoft site and install it on you
system. The latest media Player 7 has compatibility with all major media
files types. In your case I do not suspect any problem either in your
sound card or your operating system. |
