Four ex-PMs to address rally
New Delhi, February 21
Four former Prime Ministers — Mr Chandra Shekhar, Mr H.D. Deve Gowda, Mr V.P. Singh and Mr I.K. Gujral — will address a rally organised by the Samajwadi Janata Party here on February 27 against the Centre’s “anti-people” economic policies. SJP sources said today CPI General Secretary A.B. Bardhan, his CPM counterpart H.S. Surjeet, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, and RJD President Laloo Prasad Yadav too have been invited to address the rally. PTI

Chandrika’s visit
Colombo, February 21
Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga will begin her four-day visit to India tomorrow during which a comprehensive exchange of views on bilateral and regional matters would be held. The Lankan government’s efforts to find a political solution to the ethnic crisis are expected to figure prominently in the deliberations Ms Chandrika will have with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and other Indian leaders. Tremors
Kollam, February 21
About 70 buildings, including a newly built masjid, developed cracks this morning as mild tremors continued to rattle many parts of Kollam district of Kerala. According to local people, the tremors were felt at around 4.30 a.m. Reports from Karunagappalli said about 35 houses developed cracks at Kattinkadavu. UNI
