Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Jammu and Kashmir, at many places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose markedly in east Uttar Pradesh, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were markedly above normalin Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in Punjab. The lowest temperature in the plains was 8.8° C recorded at Sirsa (Haryana).

Forecast valid until the morning of 17th: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Uttaranchal and at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in east Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab. Weather will be mainly dry in Rajasthan. Isolated thundersqualls are also likely in Uttaranchal and west Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of 17th: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundery deveopment and light rain in some areas. Strong chilly winds to prevail from mid-night. Appreciable fall in minimum temperature.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Decrease in rainfall.
