Teachers want exemption from census duty
From Our Correspondent

LUDHIANA, Jan 27 — The Government Primary Teachers Association has demanded that the percentage of teachers put on census duty be reduced to 25 or else they would launch a stir.

Stating this here in a press note, Mr Piara Singh Dhillon, president of the association, said members of the association had met the Deputy Commissioner, Mr S.K. Sandhu, last week and they were assured that their demand would be met. They said that even the Education Minister, Mr Tota Singh, had given a memorandum with a similar message to the DC.

The association members said that nothing has been done so far, and if no action is taken by the DC, they would launch an agitation. They said they would hold a meeting on the issue on January 28 at Government Primary School, Jawahar Nagar, to discuss the further course of action.
