Cold wave persists
in Punjab, UP NEW DELHI, Jan 8 — Cold wave conditions continue in parts of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and have extended in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, including Chandigarh and Delhi. Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region. Temperature: past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in east Uttar Pradesh, fell in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab and changed littled elsewhere. Departures: They were below normal in Himachal Pradesh and in the remaining parts of Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.1°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab). Forecast valid until the morning of 10th: Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region. Forecast for Delhi & neighbourhood valid until the morning 10th: hazy sky. Chilly surface winds during day time. Fog during night and morning. No significant change in minimum temperature. Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi forecast valid until the morning of 10th: Sky will be mainly clear. Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change. Earthquake report: An earthquake of slight intensity having its magnitude 4.8 on the Richter Scale occurred at 8.26 a.m. yesterday with its epicentre at latitude 9.7° N, longitude 76.8°E in Kerala
(Idukki-Kattayan) border region. |
