Fog delays flights
NEW DELHI, Jan 2 (UNI) — For the first time in the season, flights were delayed by two hours due to poor visibility this morning. Airport officials said the massive power failure in the region did not affect air traffic, but poor visibility conditions in the morning resulted in the first flight taking off only at 8.15 a.m., instead of 6 a.m. This resulted in all flights leaving two hours late because of the consequential delays.

Probe sought
RANCHI, Jan 2 (PTI) — The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today alleged that Deputy Superintendent of Police U.C. Jha had died due to the “recklessness” of the state government and doctors attending on him and demanded a judicial probe into the matter. Jha, who had received fatal head injuries while tackling an irate mob prior to the police firing incident here on Thursday, died at the hospital here on Sunday evening.

10-day remand for 2
SURAT, Jan 2 (PTI) — Two youths, arrested yesterday for their alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of a five-member Jain family, were remanded in 10 days’ police custody by a local court.
