Medical care at nominal cost

I am impressed by the cleanliness of the hospital and the services it offers to the people. Service to humanity is real charity” said SSP Kuldeep Singh on his first visit to Vijayanand Diagnostic Centre being run by Mahavir Jain Sewa Sansthan. Dr Leica Singh, wife of the SSP, said, “I am happy that they are charging nominal rates for registration and have also kept their charges for diagnostic facilities such as ultra sound and X-rays low. If these facilities are provided free of cost, people tend to think the doctors are not good.”

The centre was established on April 16 this year. In a short span of six months, 15,000 patients have availed themselves of its facilities.

Mr Sikander Jain, secretary of Jain Sewa Sansthan, which is running this hospital, after welcoming Mr Kuldeep Singh said the entire building was ready in one-and-a-half year. The trust employs 50 persons to run the institution. The centre provides X-rays, ECG, ultra sound, auto analysis of blood samples, audiometer, dental chairs and gynae gall scope to diagnose uterus cancer. All these facilities are available at one-third of the rates of other clinics or hospitals.

Rajni, a patient visiting the hospital, said she had to pay Rs 60 for an X-ray, whereas, in any other clinic she would have been charged Rs 100 or more.

On the 2600th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira, the sensthan decided to enroll donors who will give Rs 500 per month for 26 months. So far they have found 350 donors against a target of 500 donors. — AA
