Customs officers corner glory CHANDIGARH, Dec 5 — Two officers of the Customs and Central Excise Department, Chandigarh, brought laurels to the department as well as to the city in the recently concluded Central Revenue Golf Tournament at Bangalore on December 2. As many as 70 entries were received for the tournament and officers of three departments — Central Excise, Customs and Income Tax — from all over India participated. Mr G S Narang, Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise (Appeals), Chandigarh won the first prize in the bronze category (handicap-19-30). The tournament was played on stableford format and Narang secured 45 points, making him the outright winner. Another officer of the department, Mr Rajiv Kapoor, Deputy Commissioner, won the first prize for the longest drive again in the Bronze category. His teeshot covered a distance of 252 yards on the 18th hole. |
