The dream of a blazing fire, which does not harm or destroy, brings forth a lot of prosperity to the dreamer. For a businessman to see that his store is burning, and he is looking on, foretells a great rush in business and profitable results.

If the person is fighting fire and does not get burnt, then worries regarding business shall accompany this dream. After such a dream, the workload too shall increase. If you see your store ruined due to the fire, then lots of ill-luck shall follow this dream.

So here we see the woman burning which is portrayed as bringing a lot of ill-luck for the dreamer, but her eventually coming out totally unharmed. This latter part of the dream contradicts the earlier one. It portrays even though there shall be problems and fate will not be in the subject’s favour, he shall prosper and gain in the end.

Psychologically, such a dream can be interpreted as a dream of purification and the person entering a new phase of life, or maybe a new relationship. According to Jung, the generation of fire represents the unconscious thought of procreation. For him it is more of a sexual symbol.

In fact, fire in a dream can suggest passion and desire in its more positive sense, and frustration, anger, resentment and destructiveness in its more negative. To be conscious of the flame, (as it is for the dreamer in the above given example) is to be aware of the energy and strength within us.

To be aware of the heat of the fire, is to be aware of someone else’s strong feelings. The dream of being burnt alive expresses our fears of forming new relationships or maybe a new phase in our life. It portrays our insecurities and lack of surety associated with it.
