High school athletics meet concludes

LUDHIANA, Nov 3 — Government High School (GHS), Gill village, boys shined in the Ludhiana District High School Athletics Meet concluded here today at village Gill. Gurmeet Singh, Sandeep Kumar and Manpreet Singh of the school bagged a gold each in 3000 m, 800 m and 5000 m walk, respectively.

The other results are as follows:

Selection trials for rural games

LUDHIANA, Nov 3 — Punjab state rural games for under-16 boys and girls are scheduled to be held from November 8 to 10, at Sangrur. The trials to select the Ludhiana district teams would be held on November 4 and 5 at the following venues.

Athletics (boys and girls): Guru Nanak Engineering. College, Ludhiana, on November 5.

Football (boys): Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, on November 4.

Weight lifting (boys and girls ): Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana, on November 4.

Kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, hockey (boys and girls): Government College for Girls, Ludhiana, on November 4.

Wrestling (boys): Multipurpose Hall, Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana

According to a press note issued here today by Mr Sohan Lal Lotey, District Sports Officer, the event and weight categories would be as under:

Athletics: 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m, 800m, races , shot put, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, discus throw, 4x100m relay.

Wrestling: 38kg, 40 kg, 42 kg, 45 kg, 48kg and 52 kg.

Weight lifting: (boys)- 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg, 105kg , +105kg.

(girls)- 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg , 75kg, +75kg. Back

 

Volleyball titles

Nov 3 — Sant Ishwar Singh Public School (SISPS), Rara Sahib, and Kundan Vidya Mandir (KVM) clinched the girls and boys titles, respectively, in the Sahodhya School Complex Volleyball Tournament which concluded at BCM Public School, Chandigarh, yesterday.

In girls section, SISPS defeated Nankana Sahib Public School (NSPS), 3-0, (25-24, 25-11, 25-20), in the final. For Hardline Cup, Gobindgarh Public School (GPS) defeated BCM Public School, 2-0, (25-16, 25-22). In boys section, KVM School defeated CFC School, 3-1, (25-21, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16) in the final. For Hardline Cup, GPS defeated NSPS, 3-0, (25-22, 25-15, 25-20).
