37 Cong men held in Tripura
AGARTALA, Oct 16 (UNI) — At least 37 Congressmen were arrested at Belona in south Tripura today while they were picketing in support of their 12-hour bandh, called to protest against the arrest of party’s former MLA Dilip Chowdhury. The police said the bandh evoked partial response.

Cyclonic storm
HYDERABAD, Oct 16 (PTI) — Coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh were put on high alert today as a deep depression over central Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm and lay centered 500 km southeast of the port town of Machilipatnam. Under its influence, gales upto 65 to 75 km per hour were likely to hit all along the coast, state Revenue Minister P. Gajapathiraju said quoting a report of the Weather Office.

Trains diverted
NEW DELHI, Oct 16 (PTI) — The Railways today either cancelled or diverted some of the train services following prolonged agitation of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) workers at Dudhladha station, Northern Railway announced here. 

Blast at police post
PATNA, Oct 16 (PTI) — Armed activists of the banned Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) have blown up a newly-constructed Bharaundha police picket in Bihar’s Gaya district, police said today.
