The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Mahender Kumar, gave away the prizes to the winners. clarification: Mr Ram Niwas, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, has contradicted the news item published in certain newspapers that the Deputy Commissioner has sold vehicles seized by the police under 25 Police Act. In a press note issued here today he has clarified that under 25 Police Act, the District Magistrate has the power to release unclaimed vehicles on temporary basis to the persons till the actual owner comes, and in these cases the actual owner was not known. He said that this was done with a view to ensure that the vehicles remain in running condition and do not get deteriorated due to lying unused in police stations for a long time.
