YPS, Little Flower lead in cricket tourney

Chandigarh, Oct 7 — Yadvindra Public School, SAS Nagar and Little Flower School, Panchkula forged ahead by winning their under-12 section matches against Saupin’s School, Panchkula and St Joseph’s School, Sector 44 by seven and nine wickets, respectively, in the 3rd Blessed Edmund Rice Cricket Tournament being played at St John’s High School, Sector 26 today. In another under-12 section, St Xavier’s School, Sector 44 outplayed Manav Mangal School, Sector 21 by 25 runs.

Brief scores: Ist match — Saupin’s School, Panchkula 44 all out in 14 overs (Kirat Singh 5 for five) YPS SAS Nagar 45 runs for three wickets in 8.3 overs (Ekant Kalia 17, Gurkirat 15, Gautam 2 for 17). IInd match — St Xavier’s 44-91 all out in 21 overs (Jaskaran 12, Rohit 2 for 11, Gaurav 2 for 17). Manav Mangal 21-66 all out in 18.5 overs (Jaskaran 3 for 7, Shashank 2 for 1, Atinder 2 for 7. IIIrd match — St Joseph’s 44-121 all out in 22.5 overs (Atul 24, Varun 13, Karan 13, Akhil 11, Kabir 2 for 11, Nitesh 2 for 27. Little Flower School — 125 for 1 in 18.4 overs (Nitish 50 n.o., Sukrant 29 n.o.).

St Kabir Sector 26 got a walkover from St. Stephen’s School, Panchkula.

ADMINISTRATION

Botanical Garden to have Director 
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, Oct 7 — The Chandigarh Administration has moved a proposal to create a post of Director of Botanical Garden and the likely candidate is the Deputy Conservator of Forests and Enforcement Magistrate, Mr H.S. Sohal. The Administration has sought that an ex-cadre post of the Indian Forest Service be given for the garden.

The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has indicated that Mr Sohal has been selected to join as Deputy Conservator in the central office, also located at Chandigarh.

The order for Mr Sohal , says he will be relieved once his successor joins, who is yet to be selected. According to information, even the files to put someone else in his place in Chandigarh are yet to move.
