‘Industry should promote sport’
From Our Sports Reporter

LUDHIANA, Sept 19 — While the Sydney Olympics fever is catching on all over the world, the residents of the city are unaware about this megaevent, according to a survey by Ludhiana Tribune.

Satya Gupta, a housewife, says that she watches only entertainment programmes on television and rarely watches sports. Brij Mohan, a businessman, said he was not interested in sports.

However, there are great expectations across the country about the performance of the Indian hockey team, which has already scored a comfortable victory over Argentina.

Rahul, a 27-year-old fashion designer, says that as far as hockey is concerned, we can hope for some better performance.

Om Parkash, a 48-year-old businessman, said the main reason for not taking interest in sports was that people here were more concerned about making money and lack of sports facilities in the city. He suggested that the industrial groups should come forward to promote the sports culture in the city.Back
