Lihotta carnage suspect shot

SRINAGAR, Sept 5 — At least four persons, including three militants and a jawan, were killed and five injured in separate incidents while the security forces held four suspects and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition during search operations in the Kashmir valley since yesterday.

A BSF jawan was killed and five were injured when militants hurled a grenade on a security camp at Shiraz cinema, Khanyar, this morning.

A foreign militant was killed in an encounter with the security forces at Lasjan on the outskirts of Srinagar in Budgam district early this morning. A pistol with a magazine, Afghan currency and Rs 310 in Indian currency were recovered from the site.

In another encounter at Tilsar, Chrar-e-Sharief, Budgam, an unidentified militant was killed today. A rifle and a pistol were recovered from the deceased militant.

Another foreign militant, Noor Hussain was killed in an encounter with the joint operations group of the Army and the SOG at Quilmuqam, Bandipore, in Baramula district last evening. A rifle, five magazines with 70 rounds and four hand grenades were recovered from the site.

The security forces seized a pistol, a magazine and 10 rounds during a search operation at Baba-Gail in Baramula district.
