Privatisation of octroi collection
opposed SAS NAGAR, Sept 5 The elected councillors of the SAS Nagar Municipal Council have strongly opposed the move of the local government to privatise octroi collection from September 19. They say the government should have decided to wait for the elected civic body to be constituted. The Administrator of the council, Mr Jaipal Singh, had postponed the auction of the octroi collection till elections to the civic body were held. The auction was scheduled on August 20. Mr Phool Raj Singh, an elected councillor, said holding the auction was against the feeling of the local residents who had elected the councillors. Mr Amrik Singh, who was
elected from phase 11, said the government should not
have decided on its own as an elected body of the
councillors was expected to be constituted soon. |
