Cisco

Cisco Systems is poised to bring the state-of-the-art convergence technology to companies planning to enter the domestic long-distance telephone market in India. The dynamic high-end IP-based technology from Cisco will offer the ability to provide innovative services.

Voice over IP technology allows telephones to place calls over IP-based networks by converting voice into digits. Apart from improving the quality of transmission, this technology will bring down the cost of service.

The multiprotocol label switching technology will pave way to quick implementation of network through intelligent tag switching capabilities that bundle identifiers that the router needs to read. Apart from being well equipped to cater to modern requirements, it also offers adequate scalability to accommodate future growth and needs.

Infinity

Infinity Venture Fund, India's first angel fund has invested Rs 3.5 crore in emecklai.com, an online global B2B portal providing information, analysis, decision support tools and online portfolio to customers.

emecklai.com has developed a suite of proprietary analytics, which have been extensively rested in a wide range of illiquid markets, including INR/USD, Indian interest rate swap and commodities like black pepper, soy oil, coffee, gold and all the LME metals.

The analytics enables customers to value assets/liabilities, measure volatility and risk, price derivatives and structured instruments and create a virtual infinity of hedge strategies, so that they can use these markets at efficiency levels usually seen in more developed markets like US Treasuries.

PTC

PTC, a leading provider of collaborative product commerce solutions, announced a unique agreement with Cadence Design System Inc to support electronics industry requirements for enterprise-wide Internet-based collaborative management of product data.

The jointly developed Windchill-based solution will allow customers to access and manage printed circuit b board (PCB) data created with Cadence's Allegro and Concept HDL products through Windchill release 5.0.

Conexant

Conexant Systems has joined forces with Cisco Systems and Hughes Network Systems to implement a new industry-standard V.44 compression technology, which will speed data throughput by 20 per cent to 60 per cent when downloading web pages and other media contents.

Conexant and Cisco are jointly supporting the new V.92 dial-up modem standard, which significantly speeds connection and download transfer rates while adding the ability to receive and initiate phone calls during a dial-up modem session.

The new V.44 modem specification will offer end-users a significant performance improvement through faster downloads of HTML pages, delivering an important advancement for dial-up modem technology. V.44 is a compression standard that will supplant the earlier V.42bis technology, which helped to nearly quadruple the dial-up modem data transfer rate across the wire as compared to raw, uncompressed data rate.
