Music director Kalyanji dead
MUMBAI, Aug 24 (UNI) — Noted Hindi film music director Kalyanji of the famed Kalyanji-Anandji duo, died here this evening at the Breach Candy Hospital following a prolonged illness. He was 70. He is survived by his wife, five sons and musician brother Anandji. Kalyanjibhai was suffering from acute asthma and was hospitalised on August 10. 

Millennium awards for Gill, Khanna
NEW DELHI, Aug 24 (UNI) — Former Punjab Police chief K.P.S. Gill, film artiste Venod Khanna, and fashion designer Ritu Beri are among the 30-odd recipients of Millennium Achiever and Rashtriya Shiromani Awards this year. Other personalities to receive the awards given annually by the All-India Achievers Conference include former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, journalist Janice Darrari and astrologer Jaiprakash Sharma Laldhage Wale. The awards were given away by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Raman Singh and Minister of State for Science and Technology Bachi Singh Rawat at a function here on Thursday.
