Gloom, anger mark the bandh in city
LUDHIANA
, Aug 4—Cutting across party and religious lines, people belonging to different sections of society here today joined the nation in mourning and condemning the killing of Amarnath yatris and others on Tuesday night by the militants in the Kashmir valley.

PUDA introduces computerised single-window service
LUDHIANA, Aug 4 — The Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) will endeavour to become a client-friendly organisation. In the present context, it was necessary for the nodal agency, responsible for planned and regulated urban development, to not only provide plots and houses to meet the ever increasing demand, but also to make available efficient service in such a manner that the customer was both satisfied and delighted.

LUDHIANA, Aug 4 — Members of the District Taxation Bar Association (Sales Tax), Ludhiana, observed a bandh today in protest against the gruesome killings of Amarnath pilgrims and others in J and K on Wednesday.

Jawan cremated with full honours
LUDHIANA, Aug 4 — The mortal remains of Havaldar Jaswant Singh of 118 Engineers Regiment, who sacrificed his life fighting insurgents at Badipur in Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated with full military honours at his native village, Talwandi Kalan, 30 km from here, today.

LUDHIANA, Aug 4 — Reynolds Quiz Whiz, an inter-school quiz contest, was held at Guru Nanak Public School here today. More than 250 teams, each comprising two contestants, from 15 schools of the city participated in the quiz.
