Amarnath Yatra
pilgrim dies
SRINAGAR, July 14 (PTI) — A 40-year-old Amarnath pilgrim belonging to Delhi died when he fell into a deep gorge on way to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir today, an official spokesman said. The pilgrim, Anil Jain, died when he slipped and fell down into the gorge, one km short of the cave, the spokesman said. Meanwhile, another batch of 4,510 pilgrims reached Pahalgam and Baltal base camps of the Amarnath Yatra today.

Missionary shot
RANCHI, July 14 (UNI, PTI) — Father Remis Kerketta, Principal of St Xavier’s High School, Bundu, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants near Jamchuan village, under Namkom police station, on Wednesday night. The police today said the mutilated body of the Roman Catholic was found lying on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur road yesterday with the head crushed. The police first described it as a road accident, but investigation and post-mortem examination report established that the missionary was shot at on his forehead from a point-blank range.
