Militants
attack pilgrims, 2 SPOs killed
SRINAGAR, July 11 (PTI) — Two militants and two special police
officers (SPOs) were killed as militants fired at a group of pilgrims
in Jammu and Kashmir, where a low-intensity explosion took place in
Mughal Garden today.
The blast caused by a grenade on the banks of the Dal Lake here,
caused no damage, official sources said.
Two special police officers were killed when unidentified gunmen
ambushed a group of pilgrims at Akhala in Doda district of Jammu
region last evening, an official spokesman said here today.
The pilgrims were ambushed while they were coming back from Sarthal
Devi to Kishtwar. No pilgrim was injured in the shootout.
Two militants were killed in separate encounters with the security
forces at Gund-e-Khushi in the frontier district of Kupwara in north
Kashmir and Tulibana-Mahore in Udhampur district of Jammu last night.
Two assault rifles, 12 grenades and a wireless set were recovered
from the deceased ultras. |
