Hijacked ship in Mumbai
MUMBAI, June 13 (UNI) — Hijacked Italian ship M V Medstar berthed at the Mumbai port outer anchorage under the watchful eyes of two patrol vessels tonight, the Coast Guard said. Necessary formalities would be carried out tomorrow and the Coast Guard was coordinating with Naval and immigration authorities, sources said. An alert was sounded in the port even though officials have ruled out any explosives on board the ship. Coast Guard patrol vessels CGS Veera and vigraha, escorting the ship since yesterday, are guarding it at the port now.

THANJAVUR, June 13 (PTI) — AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha today said the Vajpayee government had taken the correct stand that a solution to the ethnic strife in Sri Lanka should be found within the framework of a unified Lanka stating the Czech model suggested by DMK leader M Karunanidhi would not bring an end to the conflict.
200 kg RDX seized
SRINAGAR, June 13 (PTI) — The Jammu and Kashmir police today seized 200 kg of RDX from a militant hideout here foiling ultra’s bid to carry out bomb explosions in the city. The consignment of explosive was unearthed by the Special Operations Group of the police during a raid at Haban Shah locality on the outskirts of the city, IG A K Bhan told PTI here.

COLOMBO, June 13 (PTI) — Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga and leader of the main Opposition United National Party Ranil Wickramasinghe today agreed to set up an interim administration in the troubled Tamil-dominated north and eastern province.
