Dawood aide among five held PHAGWARA, May 19 — Parvez Khan, alias Tanda, a member of the Dubai-based Dawood Ibrahim gang, who had allegedly killed Vicky Goswami, the main suspect in the murder of music magnate Gulshan Kumar, was arrested by the Phagwara police along with four of his accomplices and a large quantity of arms and ammunition here today. The Nepal-based dreaded gangster and his accomplices, landed in the police custody while undertaking a recee to execute the contract killings of two sons, two daughters and wife of Santokh Singh, a Dubai-based NRI, at Mangopatti village in Kapurthala district. After killing the family, the gang was to receive Rs 6.5 lakh from two brothers of Santokh Singh, presently based in England. Out of the “supari” (contract killing) of Rs 10 lakh, the gang had already been paid Rs 3 lakh by the brothers in Nepal and Rs 50,000 at Hayer Palace in this township. Jarnail Singh and Jaswinder Singh, brothers of Santokh Singh, were not on good terms with him after willing of the entire ancestral property in the name of sons of the latter by their father. A court case is pending between Santokh Singh and his brothers. Wanted in more than 25 cases of murder, dacoity and extortion, Parvez had been active in UP and Nepal for the past 10 years and was a member of a notorious gang headed by Mirza Dilshad Beg, a former member of Nepal Parliament and leader of “anti-India” forces. Beg was killed by gangsters Chhota Rajan and Bablu Srivastava two years back. On the instructions of Beg, Parvez had reportedly killed Vicky Goswami at the Krishna Nagar residence of Beg, cut his body into pieces and threw it across the Indian border so as to destroy the clue regarding Gulshan Kumar’s killing. After Beg’s killing, Parvez was trying to step into his shoes by making efforts to become the head of his gang. Mr Iqbal Singh, SSP, Kapurthala, said about two months back Jaswinder Singh had come to his village from Nepal along with Raj Kumar, another member of the gang, to conduct a recee of the area and to prepare plans how to execute the killings. He also introduced Raj Kumar to Surinder Singh, alias Chinda, a resident of Laksian village in Hoshiarpur district, so that the latter could act as a local contact for the gang and help it in killing Santokh’s family. To commit the crime, the gang had also purchased two scooters, one of which was later sold in Ludhiana. He said the other members of the gang had been identified as Raj Kumar, a resident of Shadatganj Chungi in Faizabad district of UP, Rama Nand Pathak, a resident of Kapil Vastu district in Nepal, Tewarakh, a resident of Bahadur Ganj in Nepal, and Surinder Singh. One 9 mm pistol, 43 cartridges, one magazine, one .32 bore revolver with 26 cartridges, two .315 pistols with five cartridges and some explosives and seven country-made bombs were recovered from the gang. Raj Kumar is also a member of an international gang of vehicle thieves and had committed a number of killings along with Parvez Khan and is an expert in bomb making. Similarly, Rama Nand Pathak teacher-turned gangster who had joined the Pehalwan gang after serving a sentence for an attempt to murder. After working as a vehicle lifter for many years, he had joined the Pravez group. |
