UP BJP to use secret code
MUZAFFARNAGAR (UP), April 30 (PTI) — The BJP will launch a “secret code system” in the coming UP Legislative Council elections to avoid cross-voting, BJP state unit President Om Prakash Singh said today. “The party has decided to apply the manner of a secret-code system to curb cross-voting”, he told reporters at Deoband, about 25 km from here.

Factory fire kills 2
NEW DELHI, April 30 (PTI) — Two persons were charred to death and two others injured when a fire broke out in a chemical plant in south-west Delhi today destroying one unit of the factory, fire sources said here. The fire, which began at 3.25 pm, was a medium one and more than 20 fire engines were pressed into service to bring it under control. The unit of the factory, located on Pankha Road in the Dabri area, was gutted.

FCI signs agreement
NEW DELHI, April 30 (UNI) — The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has signed an agreement with its executive staff union providing relief to about 35,000 class II, III & IV staff in the shape of promotion or placement in the selection grade. All employees who have completed more than 12 years of service on a post or grade will benefit.

  Kinnaur rocked

SHIMLA, April 30 — Kinnaur district was rocked by earthquake twice last night. According to information received here the first tremor was felt at 7.59 p.m. which lasted for a few seconds. The area was rocked again at 1 a.m. and the second tremor was much stronger.
