NEW DELHI, April 13 — The police is investigating the possible role of Dubai-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in the multi-million dollar match-fixing scandal even as it raided the residential premises of two other bookies named by Rajesh Kalra.

NEW DELHI, April 13 — South Africa today clarified that the issue of the extradition of its sacked cricket captain Hansie Cronje to India would be taken up by an independent judicial commission set up to look into the allegations of match-fixing during his recent tour .
Match-fixing ‘failure of human values’
MUMBAI, April 13 — Former Chief Justice of India Y.V.Chandrachud said today that the incidents of match-fixing, which had rocked the cricket-playing nations, were nothing but “failure of human character.”

Badal reels off successes
ANANDPUR SAHIB, April 13 — Mr Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab, lauded achievements of his government with regard to the Khalsa tercentenary celebrations and criticised the policies of the Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal while Mr Gurcharan Singh Tohra, President of the SHSAD, announced his much-awaited political programme and made a religious appeal to the Sikh community.

DALTONGANJ (Bihar), April 13 — At least 29 persons were electrocuted and four seriously injured when a high-tension overhead electric wire snapped and fell on a Ram Navami procession here yesterday, officials said today.

Inquiries by The Tribune reveal that betting has witnessed a big slump after the Delhi police registered a case against the South African Captain on charges of fixing the one-dayers against India.
