Candidates’ kin kidnapped
AGARTALA, April 10 (PTI) — Ultras of the banned NLFT have kidnapped family members of five candidates of the ruling Left Front contesting the coming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) poll, the police said here today. The family members were kidnapped yesterday and the ultras have set the condition they would be freed only after the candidates withdrew their nominations.

11 labourers killed
DIPHU (Assam), April 10 (PTI) — At least 11 labourers were shot dead by suspected Karbi National Volunteer (KNV) militants in a forest area of Karbi Anglong district today, official sources said. The militants raided a temporary camp in the interior forests near the Lumding road and gunned down the labourers.

19 die in mishap
CHENNAI, April 10 (PTI) — Nineteen persons, including six women, were killed and 25 injured when a government-owned bus collided with a lorry at Padalam in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu today, the police said here. Seventeen died at the scene of the accident while two succumbed to their injuries at Chengalpattu Government General Hospital.
