CHANDIGARH, March 9 — Mr Satbir Singh Kadian, INLD MLA from Neoltha, was unanimously elected Speaker of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. Mr Kadian has been elected as an MLA for the third time. Earlier he represented Neoltha in the Assembly in 1987 and 1991.

Usha Kiran dead
MUMBAI, March 9 (UNI) — Well-known actress and former Mumbai Sheriff Usha Kiran (71) died of cancer in Nashik today. She was the “pretty girl next-door” of Marathi films and also distinguished in Hindi films with her acting prowess. Her death came as another shock for Marathi cinema, who lost Ranjana last week. Usha Kiran leaves behind her legacy in cinema with her talented actress-daughter Tanvi Azmi. Her Hindi films included “Patita”, “Nazrana”, “Daag”, “Badhwa”, “Kabuli wala” , “Chupke chupke” and “Musafir”, “Bawarchi” and “Mili”.

Ram Jethmalani
NEW DELHI, March 9 (PTI) — The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) today expelled Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani from its membership for his ‘unbecoming and hostile behaviour’ towards the lawyer community during their agitation against amendments to Civil Procedure Code (CPC) and entry of foreign lawyers. A general body meeting of the SCBA rejected Mr Jethmalani’s resignation before expelling him by ‘overwhelming majority’.
