kill 6 jawans in camp SRINAGAR, March 5 At least six Army jawans were killed and nearly a dozen others injured when militants attacked their camp in the Ganderbal area early this morning, police sources here said. The Army, however, said that four jawans were injured, two of them seriously, in the encounter with the militants in Badampora area near Baba Saleh Rishi in the Ganderbal area of Srinagar district. In this encounter the security forces have suffered four casualties, of which two are critical. Casualties to terrorists are not known as yet. However, radio intercepts indicate heavy losses to the terrorists, an Army spokesman stated here this evening. He added that in the early hours of this morning there was an encounter between the security forces and the militants. In the fighting the militants fired at the security force post nearby. The post immediately retaliated and brought down effective fire, after which the terrorists fire was silenced. Additional columns from neighbouring area were rushed to block the terrorists and progress operation, the spokesman said. Police sources here said that a group of militants attacked the Army camp in Badampura area at about 5 a.m. today. Six jawans were killed and 11 others were injured in the attack. The militants made good their escape after the attack, police sources added. UNI adds: Two militants and a Kashmiri Pandit woman were also killed. A defence ministry spokesman told UNI that militants attacked an Army post at Badampora Ganderbal in central Kashmir early this morning with automatics. Troops killed two militants during search operation at a village near Kulgam in south Kashmir last evening. Two AK rifles and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants. Unidentified gunmen attacked a police post guarding six Kashmiri Pandit families at Peth Dayalgam in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night. The police guards fired back and resisted the attack. A Pandit woman Laleeta was killed and another person T.N. Raina was injured in the incident. A Kashmiri Pandit was killed by unidentified militants in Anantnag. JAMMU: Troops foiled an infiltration bid killing three infiltrators armed with sophisticated weapons and dressed in Army uniform in Molu sub-sector of Akhnoor sector in Jammu region this morning. A defence ministry spokesman said. He told UNI here that on receipt of confirmed intelligence report about some infiltrators sneaking into Indian territory late last night, troops immediately cordoned off the whole area and started a combing operation. During the operation a column of 5 Rajput battalion led by a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) encountered the infiltrators near Phagwari village. Three infiltrators dressed in combat uniform were killed in the gunbattle. At least three persons
