Kaiga atomic
plant
KARWAR, (Karnataka), March 4 (PTI) The long
awaited Kaiga atomic power plant (unit II) which went
critical on September 24 will be dedicated to the nation
by the Prime Minister, Mr A.B. Vajpayee, tomorrow. Mr
Vajpayee, who will be arriving here from Goa, will
dedicate the 220-mw plant already linked to the southern
grid. The unique feature of the plant-II is that it will
generate an extremely low quantity of radioactive wastes.

BANGKOK, March 4 (AFP) Millions of Thais went to
polling stations today for the Upper House elections in a
crucial first test of a new constitution designed to
purge the rampant corruption that had tainted democracy
here for decades. But by the time voting started there
were already reports of fraud and indications that the
bid to stamp out vote buying might have been in vain.
Bill for
handicapped
LUCKNOW, March 4 (PTI) The Government is planning
to introduce a Bill to extend reservation for the
handicapped to the private sector during the current
session of Parliament, Union Minister of State for Social
Justice and Empowerment Maneka Gandhi said today. In
order to provide job opportunities for the handicapped
people in the private sector as well as the government
would bring a Bill to amend the Disability Act and
present it in Parliament, Mrs Gandhi said at the
inauguration of an exhibition of equipment for the
physically challenged here.
