India not to recognise Taliban NEW DELHI, Jan 5 (UNI) India today ruled out recognising the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, stating the fundamentals of the Afghan policy remained unchanged. An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said here that India continued to recognise President Burhanuddin Rabbanis government which was the legitimate regime in Afghanistan. The spokesman was
reacting to a statement by Taliban regimes
representative in New Year that India should accord
legitimacy to his regime in view of the cooperation
extended by it during the recent hijacking crisis. |
