BATHINDA
Two booked:
Two businessmen Jawahar Lal and Prem Nath of Mansa have been booked on a charge of fraud with a farmer. In a press note issued here, Mr Sat Pal Singh Sidhu, SP (Vigilance), said they had committed a fraud of Rs 1.20 lakh with the farmer.

GURDASPUR
Uniforms distributed:
The Ramsharnam Trust, Gohana, distributed uniforms among 250 students of primary schools and 20 sewing machines to girls at a function organised at Kala Kendra here on Saturday. The trust also awarded 30 scholarships of Rs 300 per month to students of higher and senior secondary level.

LUDHIANA
Training programme:
A training programme on "export procedure and documentation" organised by the Punjab State Industries Export Corporation and the SISI concluded here on Saturday. The valedictory function was presided over by Mr J.S. Kullar, Director, SISI.

Contest: A quiz contest on environment was organised at Government College for Boys here on Saturday. It was organised by State Bank of India and the Paryavaran Vahini. As many as 65 teams participated. Mr Tejveer Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), was the chief guest. The first prize was won by students of PAU, second by Government College for Women and third by Guru Nanak Public School.

MOGA
Shortage:
The district courts here are facing a shortage of court fee stamp papers of small denominations. Residents have urged the district administration to make proper arrangements for the supply of the stamp papers.

PHILLAUR
Nagar kirtan:
A colourful nagar kirtan procession was taken out here on Saturday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Langars were also organised at different places on the occasion.

SAMRALA
Donation:
Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon , MLA, Samrala, donated Rs 15,000 to the Bar Association for the library on Saturday, according to Mr H S Diwa, president of the association.

PANCHKULA
Eye camp:
Over 200 patients were examined at an eye and dental health camp organised by the Pandit Drit Ram Jyoti Charitable Trust in Sector 16 here on Sunday. Medicines and dentures were given to patients free of cost. Over 15 eye operations were performed at the camp.

Alumni meet: An alumni meet of the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS), Agra, was held in the Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL) complex here on Saturday. The meet was attended by delegates from North India, including Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Prof Rajeshwar Prasad, former Director of the ISS, was the chief guest.

Truckers' union:
The following have been elected office-bearers of the local Truck Operators Union: President — Mr Jaswinder Kaka; Senior Vice-President — Mr Devinder Singh; Vice-President — Mr Surinder Singh; General Secretary — Mr Satwant Singh; Cashier — Mr Jagwinder Singh; Joint Secretary — Mr Harbans Singh ; Organising Secretary — Mr Om Parkash; and Press Secretary — Mr Surinder Pal.

MD sought: The Electronic Systems Punjab Employees Union has urged the Minister for Industries, Mr Sucha Singh Langh, to depute a regular Managing Director of the company.top

REWARI
Cleanliness drive:
The district administration has launched a cleanliness drive in the city, according to the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Sumitra Mishra Singh. She said the city had been divided into six sectors for the drive. She also directed the administration to maintain the streetlights.

YAMUNANAGAR
Cultural meet:
An inter-college cultural meet was organised at DAV College for Girls , here on Saturday. As many as 140 students from different colleges of Kurukshetra University and MDU participated. Dr Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Secretary, UGC, gave away prizes.
