BSF men shoot 3 Bangladeshis
MALDA (West Bengal), March 28 (UNI) — At least three persons were killed and four others injured when Border Security Force (BSF) jawans opened fire on a mob of Bangladeshi infiltrators trying to steal cows from a bordering Indian village in the district yesterday. Official reports reaching the district headquarters here today said all victims died on the spot. Later in the wake of simmering tension a flag meeting between the BSF and the Bangladesh Rifles was held at Hapania today.

Resignation rejected
GANDHINAGAR, March 28 (PTI) — Gujarat Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari today rejected the resignation of acting Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University H.M. Desai. Mr Desai had submitted his resignation on Friday over the alleged non-cooperation of senior officials of the university. The decision to reject his resignation was taken following a high-level meeting held at Raj Bhavan, chaired by Mr Bhandari in his capacity as Chancellor of the university.

6 feared killed
AGRA, March 28 (PTI) — Six persons were feared killed when a cold store building collapsed near Khandauli town, 21 km from here, last evening, official sources said today. The accident was caused due to excessive storing of potato bags, sources said, adding that operations were on to clear the debris and dig out more bodies.

Shahi Imam
NEW DELHI, March 28 (UNI) — Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Abdullah Bukhari today suffered a mild heart attack and was admitted to a private nursing home. Doctors attending on him said the Shahi Imam was admitted to the hospital with complaints of chest pain and it was later established that he had suffered a "mild" attack. They described his condition at present as "stable".

Jaundice epidemic
JAIPUR, March 28 (PTI) — Jaundice has broken out in epidemic form in Khanpur town of Rajasthan's Jhalawar district with at least 285 persons taken ill, it was officially stated today. The state government has deputed an action team comprising experts from the medical and Health Department and personnel of the Public Health and Engineering Department to the town to ensure remedical measures, an official Press note said.

Rocket launched
WASHINGTON, March 28 (AFP) — Zenith, the first rocket to be launched into space from a sea platform, blasted off successfully from its Pacific Ocean launch site, Boeing has said. The rocket lifted off at 0.130 GMT yesterday after being delayed for technical reasons. It was to place a dummy satellite into orbit to test its capabilities. The Ukrainian-designed rocket was designed to take off from the platform floating on the equator, South of Hawaii in the Pacific, in order to benefit from the earth's rotational effect at that latitude.

Councillor killed
SILIGURI, March 28 (PTI) — Rudra Kumar Pradhan, newly-elected councillor of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Darjeeling today, according to the police.
