president of the district unit of the Sangrur
Brahmin Sabha on Sunday. He was elected for two

The
district president of the National Students Union
of India, Mr Amarinder Singh Tikka, has condemned
the administration of the local Shaheed Bhagat
Singh College of Engineering and Technology for
asking the striking students of the third
semester to vacate the college and hostel on

Died
Kamlesh of Bulandpur village, who was
admitted with burns in the Civil Hospital here on
September 6 died on Sunday, police sources said.
She had suffered the burns while working on a
stove.
Passports issued
The local
passport office has processed passport
applications received till June 12. The processed
passports have been sent to the persons
concerned.

Quiz contest
The Bharat
Vikas Parishad organised an inter-school quiz
contest at Vidya Bharti School on Sunday. Ankur
of Summer Field Public High School won the first
prize while Mukesh and Deepak of Arya High School
won the second and third prizes, respectively.

Gangs busted
The
district police claimed to have busted three
gangs of thieves and arrested 28 persons during
the past one week. Ornaments, vehicles, narcotic
drugs and a huge quantity of tea were seized from
them, Mr Kuldip Singh, SSP, said on Sunday.
