Army jawans hurt in encounter JAMMU, Nov 5 (UNI) At least four
jawans were injured in an encounter between the army and
militants in the Surankot area of Poonch district in
Jammu and Kashmir today.
Official sources said
troops of the Rashtriya Rifles launched a search around
Potha village, near Surankote after receiving information
about the presence of militants.
A patrol noticed the
militants in the South-West of the village and fired at
them. In the encounter, which continued for more than
three hours, the militants used long-range weapons and a
rocket hit a barrack. Four jawans sustained injuries from
flying splinters, the sources said.
Additional forces have
been rushed to undertake combing and search operations in
the area.
The militants, led by the
foreign mercenaries, have not been traced so far, they
added.
