Rallies
The Technical Services Union has started gate rallies which will continue till July 31 at the sub-divisional offices of the PSEB here, according to the divisional secretary of the union on Friday.
Elected
The following have been elected office-bearers of the Bar Association: president — Mr Hans Raj Sarsawa; secretary — Mr Jagdeep Singh Sandhu; joint secretary — Mr Ashok Kumar Charaya; and treasurer — Mr Sukhdev Singh Brar.
Raped
A minor girl was allegedly raped in Kular village by a tailor on Sunday when she went to his shop to take delivery of some stitched garments. The Sadar police has registered a case.

MOGA
Encroachment
About 5000 persons, including shopkeepers, stall holders and those selling goods on footpaths at Baghapurana town would be rendered unemployed if the authorities there started demolishing illegal constructions. These persons have urged the authorities to make proper arrangements for their resettlement.
Courts
Resentment prevails among residents over the offices of the new tehsil at Baghapurana town, being located at a distance of 2 km from the town. They have urged the authorities to shift the courts to a place near the town.

SAMRALA
Office-bearers
The following have been elected office-bearers of the Samrala Dealers Association: president — Mr Inderjeet Rattan; general secretary — Mr Sushil Kumar; and treasurer — Mr Dharam Pal.
Elections
Twentytwo candidates have submitted their papers for elections of members of the Samrala Primary Cooperative Land Mortgage Bank, which is to be held on August 1, according to Mr Rajinder Singh Chawla, returning officer.
Post vacant
The post of Treasury Officer here has been lying vacant since June 21, 1997. The pensioners are being put to great hardship on this account, according to Mr K.L. Khanna, general secretary of the Pensioners Association.

Health camp
A health camp was organised at the primary health centre, Sarhali, on Saturday. It was presided over by Dr Pritpal Kaur, SMO, Sarhali. A large number of panches, sarpanches and villagers of the area participated in the camp.
Programme
The local branch of Punjab National Bank organised a customer relations programme on Saturday which was presided over by Mr H.L. Jindal, Assistant General Manager. Dr Prabhjot Singh Majhail, Senior Manager of the local branch, said that about 3000 persons were drawing their ex-servicemen's and old-age pension through this bank.
Demanded
The Majha Rang Manch and the Sabhayacharak Kendra, at its meeting here on Saturday urged the State Government to open Guru Arjan Dev Bhavan for the development of the Punjabi language and culture. The kendra also decided to organise its eighth annual cultural fair in November.

Camp

More than 200 patients were examined at a free ayurvedic medical camp organised by the Management Committee of the Sector 34-D Gurdwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib on Sunday. The team of ayurvedic doctors was headed by Dr Tayal. Medicines were given to the patients free of cost.top

Extended
The Board of School Education, Haryana, has extended the dates for students senior secondary to submit application forms for the (supplementary) examination by July 31 without late fee and by August 7 with late fee, according to official sources.

Camps
The Lions Club (Midtown) will hold blood donation camps on July 28 and August 1 at Gohana town in the district. The SDM will inaugurate the camps.
Suicide cases
Arjun of Ahulana village and Balraj of Madina village reportedly committed suicide on Sunday by jumping in front of a train at Gohana, 35 km from here. According to the police, family quarrels were stated to be the main cause of suicides.

Recovered
The police has recovered a pistol and a cartridge from the residence of Ishwar, of Pilana village. A case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered.

Demanded
The district unit of the CPI demanded immediate curb on rising prices of various essential commodities. The Union Government and the state government have failed to curb the price rise, the party observed at its eighth sammelan which concluded here on Sunday. More than 100 delegates from various parts of the state attended the sammelan.
Deposits: Punjab National Bank of Hamirpur and Una district has managed deposits to the tune of Rs 325 crore by the end of March 31, 1998, according to Mr K.K. Bansal, Regional Manager of the bank.

JAWALAMUKHI
Pilgrims
More than 80,000 pilgrims visited the Jawalamukhi temple here on Shravan Ashtami mela on Saturday, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra.
