Interaction drive
A two-day interaction drive between the public and the administration was held here on Friday and Saturday. As many as 100 out of the 280 complaints received were disposed of on the spot by the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Narinderjit Singh.

Hepatitis-B camp
The Sarv Kalyan Brahmin Sabha and the State Bank of Patiala (Power Colony, Ropar) organised a hepatitis -B vaccination camp on Sunday at Power Colony, Ropar. About 300 persons were vaccinated.

Baby found
A two-month-old baby was found near the Sirhind railway station on Saturday. The baby is in the custody of the railway police, Sirhind.

Boycotted
The local Agriculture Technocrats Action Committee boycotted the crop harvesting experience meeting of the Agriculture Department here on Monday. This was in protest against the non-payment of salaries to agriculture doctors and other staff members for the past three months.

Arrested
The local police on Monday arrested two men and a woman and recovered several stolen articles from their possession. They were going on a Tata Sumo when the vehicle was stopped at a naka.

A deputation of the Chandigarh UT Subordinate Services Federation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Adviser here on Tuesday. Mr R.K. Chandolia, president of the federation said that the adviser assured them that their demands would be considered sympathetically.

A deputation of the Class IV Government Employees Union accompanied by the local MP, Mr Satya Pal Jain, met the Home Secretary and submitted a memorandum of their demands here on Tuesday. Mr S.R. Mamgain, president of the union said the Home Secretary assured them that their demands would be met soon. Their demands include promotions for Class IV employees in schools and other departments, supply of uniforms to police personnel besides confirmation of work charged employees.

Sarpanches and panches of a number of villages on Monday demanded transfer of the SDO, HSEB, Murthal subdivision. They also demanded and a high-level inquiry into complaints regarding erratic power supply in the area.
Drought hit

The Kisan Morcha of the BJP on Monday urged the state government to declare Sonepat district as a drought-hit area and postpone the recovery of loans from the farmers. It also demanded financial assistance for the farmers.
Two held

The police here has arrested two youths in connection with the murder of Mehar Singh of Chatia Aulia village. The Superintendent of Police said the arrested persons were residents of the same village. A revolver, a cartridge and a motor cycle were recovered from them.
Arrested

The police here has arrested Sandeep of West Ram Nagar area in connection with the theft of a Tata Sumo belonging to Mr Darshan of Jawahar Nagar. He had reportedly stolen the vehicle from the premises of the local Municipal Council. top

Open darbar
Mr Karan Singh, Minister of State for Primary Education, presided over an open darbar at Diyar village, 25 km from here. As many as 150 cases were decided and remaining forwarded to the departments concerned.
Saplings planted

A vanamahotsava was organised at Diyar villiage, 25 km from here, on Sunday. One thousand saplings of deodar, rakhal and ban were planted on the occasion.

NURPUR

Subsidy
The Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister, Mr Vidhya Sagar, said here on Tuesday that the government had decided to continue the subsidy on fertilisers and would keep a check on fertiliser prices.
Veterinary pharmacists

The Kangra District Government Veterinary Pharmacists Union has demanded a non-practice allowance on a par with veterinary doctors. This was stated by Mr Gian Chand, president of the union on Tuesday. top
