NEW DELHI: In an apparent U-turn, the CBI, which had filed a closure report in a coal block allocation case involving industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, former Coal Secretary PC Parakh and others, on Monday told a special court there was enough evidence against the accused to take cognisance of offences.

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Police on Monday failed to present controversial sect leader Rampal in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday despite the court issuing non-bailable warrants against him last week.

10% faces in Modi Cabinet from North
Chandigarh, November 9
After “chai wala” Narendra Modi rose to become the Prime Minister, now a plumber-turned-politician and BJP’s Dalit face, Vijay Sampla, is part of the Modi’s expanded Cabinet. The region, which earlier had four ministers in the Union Cabinet, has got three more berths, taking north’s representation in the 66-member Cabinet to over 10 per cent. Sampla is the second MP from Punjab to find a berth in the Modi Cabinet. With the inclusion of Birender Singh, Haryana has three ministers now.

Defiant Sena may sit in Oppn in Maharashtra
Mumbai/New Delhi, November 9
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackaray today said his party would sit in the Opposition in Maharashtra if the BJP took NCP's support in the state. "We will not support the BJP if it takes the support of the NCP," Thackeray told reporters here after a meeting of the party's leaders. "Atalji's 13-day government fell after the NCP withdrew support and now, the BJP wants to tie-up with them," Thackeray said.

Fifth-gen fighter: India asks Russia to resolve tech-sharing, costing
New Delhi, November 9
In what could be a sign of fatigue in a long-lasting military relationship, India has conveyed to Russia that it cannot carry on with the proposed project to jointly develop and manufacture the next generation of fighter jets till Moscow addresses concerns about technology sharing and costing. India and Russia are on the verge of inking one of the biggest defence manufacturing deals to develop and produce the fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA).
