India and Pakistan have, in the past 24 hours, separately spoken about resolving issues through dialogue but without specifying its contours. “We would like to resolve our conflicts with everyone through talks”, said Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Adviser, without naming Pakistan, while delivering a keynote address today at the core group meeting of the Munich Security Conference in Delhi.

Kabul to renew its request for arms

Afghanistan will renew its request for arms and military aid from India, even as it is using China’s leverage with Pakistan to reconcile with the Taliban. Top Indian security officials are expected to visit Kabul soon.

Nepal, India sign power trade pact
Kathmandu, October 21
India and Nepal today inked a historic Power Trade Agreement, allowing exchange of electricity and opening up new vistas of cooperation in the hydropower sector. During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nepal in August, the two sides had agreed to sign the agreement that would allow exchange of electricity generated from hydel projects in Nepal and India.

Not many have followed the life of Haryana’s Chief Minister-designate Manohar Lal Khattar. Despite being in active politics for decades, he has remained in the background till he was elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party here today. A déjà vu of sorts, Khattar has lived a life very similar to that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, too, was almost unknown till he was chosen to become the Gujarat Chief Minister.
