Tribune News Service

Ludhiana/ Amritsar, October 4
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Saturday seized 40kg of heroin near Mullapur and arrested the truck driver carrying the drug.

The estimated value of the seized drugs is said to be over Rs 100 crore in the international market.

The driver has been identified as Rashpal Singh.

Sources in the DRI said the truck was registered in Tarn Taran and the driver had pasted stickers “on Army duty” on the vehicle to evade checking at police nakas.

It is yet to be ascertained whether the drug was meant to be sold in the country or international market, said sources.

In yet another seizure, BSF jawans today seized 2 kg of heroin sneaked in from the Pakistani side in the Sheela border outpost area, falling in the Amritsar sector.
