Badal to take up Sikh ‘black list’ with PM
Tribune News Service

Amritsar, October 4
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said he would take up the Sikh ‘black list’ with the Prime Minister.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a sangat darshan here, Badal said he had already urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the Ministry of Home Affairs to evolve a mechanism for a regular review of all such cases.

He said he wanted removal of the names of persons from the list against whom no cases or legal proceedings were pending. Badal said he would also take up the cause of Sikh prisoners languishing in jails of other states even after the completion of their sentence with the Prime Minister.

On Punjabis trapped in strife-torn Iraq, the Chief Minister said he had discussed it with the Union Ministry of External Affairs and even with the special envoy of India in Iraq to ensure their safe release.

He said that the sole motive of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s tie-up with the Indian National Lok Dal in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections was to defeat the Congress.

The CM said it was on record that besides giving a fillip to the overall development of the state, sangat darshan had also mitigated the problems of the people. He said the concept of sangat darshan was an integral part of the state’s governance as it brought the government at the doorsteps of the people.

On another query, the CM said after assuming power, the BJP-led NDA government was in the process of framing policies for the development of states. He said Punjab would get its due share in Central grants.

He said states needs to be given more powers to ensure comprehensive development of the country, besides checking the growing trend of regional imbalance.
