Two persons of a family, including a minor, were killed and four others injured as Pakistan Rangers shelled 22 forward posts and 28 villages along the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu district on Friday night.

The government on Saturday placed all systems at central hospitals, including AIIMS, under review to end corruption. The move comes days after removal of Haryana-cadre Indian Forest Services officer Sanjev Chaturvedi as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of AIIMS.

India Meteorological Department Director-General Lakshman Singh Rathore today confirmed that the monsoon situation in the plains of the northwest, particularly Punjab, Haryana, Western UP and Jammu and Kashmir, was “not so encouraging”.

In communal riot-prone Uttar Pradesh, the BJP today decided to take up “love jihad” — a term coined by extreme Hindutva elements indicating luring of Hindu women by Muslims for conversion — as a major plank to corner the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government.
