Haryana names gurdwara panellists

In spite of growing tension between the Centre and the Haryana Government over the constitution of a separate Sikh body to manage the affairs of Haryana gurdwaras, the state government today went ahead and nominated 41 persons as members of the ad hoc Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

The committee will manage, supervise and take over the assets of the gurdwaras in the state, including moveable and immoveable properties of every description.

The committee, constituted under the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act, 2014, will continue to hold charge and manage the affairs of the gurdwaras in Haryana until a new committee is elected as provided for in the Act.

Those who have been named on the committee include Jagdish Singh Jhinda and Didar Singh Nalvi who spearheaded the movement in the state for a separate body. Bhupinder Singh Assandh (Karnal), Harpal Singh Machhonda (Ambala), Baba Gurmeet Singh Tirlokey Wala (Sirsa), Amrik Singh Janetpur (Ambala) are the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members nominated to the ad hoc committee. Seven of the 11 members owing allegiance to the Shiromani Akal Dal have been left out.

The others members are Avtar Singh Chakku (Kaithal), Swarn Singh Ratia (Fatehabad), Joga Singh Yamuna Nagar (Jagadhri), Bhupinder Singh Jauhar (Yamunanagar), Jasbir Singh Khalsa (Ambala), Nirvail Singh (Safidon), Jagdev Singh Matdadu (Dabwali), Sartaj Singh (Karnal), Manjeet Singh Datcher (Karnal), Jasvinder Singh (Narwana), Ajmer Singh Saini (Ladwa), Harpreet Singh Narula (Karnal), Surjeet Singh (Kaithal),
