Crack down on onion hoarders: Rajnath
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, July 3
The government has decided to come down heavily on hoarders in the national capital. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said a massive crackdown had been ordered against hoarders. He said he had ordered more mobile vans and outlets selling onions, potatoes and vegetables at the government-listed rates.

Rajnath blamed the previous UPA-II regime, saying "the tenure of the UPA-II derailed the economy. It will take some time to put it back on the track." He refused to give a time frame but emphasised "we will make an honest effort to curb prices".

Raids across Capital

As many as 1,082 premises have been raided in the Capital in the last one month.
Minister said drive against hoarding will continue.
The number of mobile vans selling vegetables at the government prices will go up.
He said an action plan of procurement of onions was being readied.
