Ahead of PM visit, 3 intrusion bids in J-K Jammu/Poonch, July 3 A group of heavily armed terrorists tried to sneak into the Indian territory in Baloni-Sagra sub-sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday night. "The intrusion was reported around 9.15 pm last night near the Roshini post. Alert troops of the 1st Mahar Regiment opened fire," said an Intelligence source. "The terrorists, believed to be half-a-dozen and assisted by Pakistani troops, also fired mortars and rocket-propelled grenades. The gun battle continued till 5 am," said the source. Troops of 5 Grenadiers and 6 Rajput Regiment also foiled two intrusion bids in Balakote sector

Rifles, the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Poonch border police were rushed to the site. Senior Army officers also flew off from here to the encounter site in Poonch. The Intelligence source informed that at 5.30 am today fresh firing broke out between the troops and the ultras that continued till 9 am.
