Thimphu, June 16 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the Joint Session of Bhutan Parliament in its capital. Modi appreciated the friendly relations between both the countries and said that efforts will be made to strengthen ties. He then laid stress upon the voter turnout in India in the recent General Elections which was larger than US and Europe combined. Modi also stated that the new government of India is committed to make the relationship between Bhutan and India stronger.

'Terrorism divides, tourism unites', says PM Modi in Bhutan Parliament
Thimphu, June 16 (ANI): Addressing the Bhutan Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday raised the issue of terrorism and development. Encouraging tourism between India and Bhutan, the Prime Minister said that 'Terrorism divides, tourism unites'. He further said that India is committed to good relations with neighbours.



PM Modi stresses upon education and sports for India-Bhutan unity
Thimphu, June 16 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday while addressing a Joint Session at Bhutan Parliament stressed upon education and sports as mediums of strengthening ties between India and Bhutan. Modi said that he was happy to know that Bhutan is spending a majority amount from its budget on education. He also said that education strengthens democracy and thus it is essential to promote education. Modi then highlighted the need for common sports tournaments between both nations in order to develop friendly and cordial relations among youth from both sides. He added that sports will also help in promoting health among youth.



CEO of jute mill beaten to death by mill workers in West Bengal 
Kolkata, June 16 (ANI): Workers of a jute mill allegedly beat to death the chief executive officer in the factory premises after he refused to agree to their demand on wages at Bhadreswar in Hooghly district of Kolkata. CEO of North Brook Jute Mill, S K Maheswari, was beaten up by the agitated workers of the factory when he rejected their demand for an increase in the weekly working hours so that they are paid more.



Two cops shot dead in Firozabad by unidentified persons
Firozabad, June 16 (ANI): Two cops were shot dead on Monday in the wee hours by unidentified miscreants, while they were patrolling at 60 foota road in Firozabad. Three teams have been deployed for a strict investigation. Inspector General SK Gupta said that due to lack in diligence, a sub-inspector from Thana Ramgarh has been suspended but the post mortem report is yet to come, so the further investigation will be done after it comes.
