RBI keeps key rates unchanged
New Delhi, June 3
As expected, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept interest rates unchanged in continuation to its stance on controlling inflation but also sent out a pro-growth signal by allowing more liquidity to banks which will help them to finance more projects and loans. The repo rate, at which the Reserve Bank of India lends to banks, has been retained at 8 per cent, while the statutory liquidity ratio (SLR) for banks has been cut by 0.5 per cent to 22.5 per cent with effect from June 14.
