Police arrest six militants, recover arms in Punjab
Patiala, March 19 (ANI): Police on Tuesday arrested six militants
of Babbar Khalsa group in Punjab and seized weapons. Addressing a news conference in Patiala district, Senior Superintendent of
Police HS Mann said four weapons had been seized from the militants.
Several cases had been already registered accusing the arrested persons.
Vladimir Putin calls PM Manmohan Singh to discuss
Ukraine
New Delhi, March 19 (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin called Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine and recent referendum in
Crimea. Defying Ukrainian protests and Western sanctions, Putin had signed a treaty on Tuesday making Crimea
a part of Russia again but had said he had not been planning to seize any other regions of Ukraine.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said PM Singh had expressed his hopes that all sides would exercise restraint and work together constructively to find political and diplomatic solutions
to protect the legitimate interest of all the countries and ensure long-term peace and stability in Europe.
Khurshid questions Modi’s clean chit, compares him to a nursery kid; BJP slams
New Delhi, March 19 (ANI): The BJP today slammed Congress leader Salman Khurshid who
had once again stroked a controversy by questioning BJP's Prime
Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's claim of having received a clean chit
for 2002 Gujarat riots and comparing him to a nursery student. Khurshid
had said Modi had been acting like a nursery student who had scored good marks and
thought he had a PhD.
