Chandigarh, March 14
Senior advocate RK Anand and INLD leader Ajay Chautala’s US-educated son Dushyant Chautala figure on the list of 10 Lok Sabha candidates announced by the party today.

In a bid to mollify Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who made last-ditch efforts to cobble together the INLD-BJP alliance, the party has nominated sitting SAD MLA Charanjeet Singh — who represents Kallianwali Assembly segment — for the Sirsa seat.

Another sitting legislator to find a place in the list is Rao Bahadur Singh, MLA from Nangal Choudhary. Rao will take on Congress’ Shruti Choudhry for the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seat.

A close associate of senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala, RK Anand, a former Rajya Sabha member, is the vice-president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Anand will take on sitting Congress MP Avtar Singh Bhadana.

With Dushyant contesting against Congress’ Sampat Singh in Hisar, the fourth generation of the Chautalas has jumped into the poll fray. An alumnus of Sanawar School, Dushyana did his Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from California State University (USA).

Former Agriculture Minister Jaswinder Sandhu will try his luck from the crucial Karnal seat against sitting Congress MP Arvind Sharma. Another former minister Balbir Saini will challenge business tycoon and sitting Congress MP Naveen Jindal from Kurushetra.

Influential Muslim politician from Mewat region Zakir Hussain will be party’s candidate from Gurgaon, who will be pitted against AAP’s Yogendra Yadav and possibly sitting MP Rao Inderjit Singh.
